New Year's Resolutions 2019: Hair Edition

It's less than 24 hours before 2018 ends, and you know what that means: time for our New Year's Resolutions 2019!

The year has come and gone so fast. Ever experienced closing your eyes and then suddenly waking up, without knowing that you fell asleep in the first place? That's exactly how 2018 felt like for us.

The new year is coming soon, and we here at ZALA simply can't wait to welcome it with open arms. To start off the year right, here are 4 new year's resolutions you can do that your hair will definitely love this 2019!

New Year's Resolutions Hair Edition

New Year's Resolution #1: Get more hours of sleep

Raise your hand if you've ever slept way past your bedtime. Don't worry, I'm raising my hand with you. I can't count on one hand how many times I've fallen asleep at 1AM, 3AM, and even 5AM when I'm too busy trying to finish something.  I know, I know. We live in a fast-paced world yada yada, but our hair doesn't understand that, sadly.

For every hour that you don't sleep when you should be sleeping, you're moving closer and closer to hair-loss, hair-thinning, and other hair problems. Not to mention, lack of sleep poses a lot of other health concerns too! This 2019, make sure you get more sleep, more than enough to let your body repair and heal itself.

New Year's Resolution #2: Drink more water

"I need agua!"

Katarina Stratford from the classic 1999 romantic comedy film 10 Things I Hate About You is right: we all need agua. In fact, you may need more water than what you already think is efficient. 87% of the population drinks water, according to a 2015 survey on health and food consumption. The question is, how much are you drinking?

Aim to drink at least 74 ounces of water every day. Men should drink more, at 101 ounces. This ensures that your scalp is well-hydrated and healthy, which promotes hair growth and lessens the risk of dry hair.

New Year's Resolution #3: Eat more healthy food

I'm a picky eater. I'm one of the pickiest people I know, and for most people who know me, I'm the pickiest person they know too. However, even I understand the importance of eating healthy food (even if I want nothing more than to gorge myself in ice cream and chocolates all day) for the sake of my body and my health.

See, what we put inside our tummies reflects what we look like on the outside. If you eat junk food every day, needless to say, it won't be long before your outside, including your hair, will look like junk as well. Wanna get long, flowing, gorgeous, healthy hair? Eat healthy food, that's how. Add it to your list of new year's resolutions 2019 now!

New Year's Resolution #4: Practice a daily hair care routine

Our hair is one of the least noticed parts of the body. Many people have no problem establishing dedicated skincare routines, spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars buying expensive products, getting expensive facials and diamond peels, and paying huge amounts of money for services to enhance and improve their skin.

Keeping a daily hair care routine, however, doesn't seem as normal. Few people take the time out of their day to dedicate to their hair. Sure, they'd get monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly haircuts. Maybe they'll get a hair spa every 6 months or so. Maybe they'll go for a treatment to 'treat' themselves at times. But rarely do they do things on a daily basis. Well then, maybe it's time. Love your hair a little bit better, and we promise you, it's going to love you back tenfolds.
