ZALA Quiz: Which Hairstyle Suits Your Face Shape?

It’s not that easy to find a hairstyle that perfectly complements your face, but when you do, it can be a whole world of difference. Having one that suits you well can instantly enhance your beauty and make you stand out even more.

Don’t know where to start? In this article, you’ll find out which hairstyle suits your face shape just by answering some questions!

Hairstyles For Round Face Shape

You have a round face shape if you answer yes to most, if not all, of these questions:

  • Does your face fit inside a circle?
  • Is the length and width of your face equal?

Pixie Cut

Short hairstyles are very flattering for those with round faces. If you’re feeling brave, you can go for a pixie cut. It’s an easy way to add some texture to your head, which can make your face look more elongated than it actually is.

Side Part

A deep side part can add much-needed angles to round face shapes, all while maintaining a soft look.

High Ponytail

High ponytails do a great job at making your face look much longer, which is why it should be avoided by those with long face shapes. If you have a round face shape though, you’ll find that a high ponytail could be really flattering for you.

Hairstyles For Oval Face Shape

You have an oval face shape if you answer yes to most, if not all, of these questions:

  • Is your face longer than it is wide?
  • Is your jaw slightly narrower than your forehead?

Side-Swept Bangs

Side-swept bangs can frame your face, making it look a lot more balanced. Don’t go for heavy bangs, as this can make your face look even shorter.

Blunt Bob

This is a short hairstyle that helps avoid elongate your face, which is a no-no for oval-shaped faces.

Layered Shoulder-Length Hair

It can be a bit hard to make your hair look voluminous when you’ve got an oval-shaped face, but it can be done with the use of layers that reach your shoulders. Also, haircuts that are just one length can make your face look strangely long, which is another thing to avoid when your face shape is oval.

Hairstyles For Square Face Shape

You have a square face shape if you answer yes to most, if not all, of these questions:

  • Are your forehead, cheeks, and jaw roughly the same width?
  • Do you have a strong or angled jawline?

Wispy Bangs

Wispy bangs can soften your look by adding subtle, diagonal lines to your face. This can be very helpful since square faces tend to look stronger than other face shapes.

Short Bangs

If you’d much rather accentuate your square face though, it might be best to opt for short bangs that end right at your cheekbone. This highlights your strong features and draws attention to them.

Hairstyles For Heart Face Shape

You have a heart face shape if you answer yes to most, if not all, of these questions:

  • Is your hairline the widest part of your face?
  • Do you have prominent cheeks?
  • Is your chin area quite narrow?

Loose Waves With Bangs

This is for heart-shaped faces that prefer to keep their hair longer. Loose waves with bangs can help balance things out by removing the attention from the forehead area and adding wideness around the lower part of your face. Don’t make your bangs too short though, as short bangs can make your chin look even narrower.

Shoulder-Length Long Bob

People with a heart-shaped face tend to have smaller jawlines, so it’s helpful to add some ‘width’ in that area to balance things out. This can be done easily with a long bob that ends right at the shoulder, as it can give the appearance of a wider jawline.

Hairstyles For Long Face Shape

You have a long face shape if you answer yes to most, if not all, of these questions:

  • Is the length of your face longer than the width?
  • Do your jaw and your forehead have roughly the same width?

Loose Curls

Curly hair is a great look for those with a long face, since curls can make your face appear wider than it actually is. Loose curls look especially fabulous on long faces, so make sure to get yours as loose and as big as you can.

Big Waves

Just like loose curls, waves, especially those big, beachy ones, can make long faces more balanced. Curl your hair a bit closer to the roots in order to achieve the perfect style of waves.

How long do tape-in hair extensions last?

So you want to get tape-in hair extensions, huh?

You’ve done all your research. You’ve checked all the brands. Plus, you’ve read every single article about the kinds of hair extensions, and now you’ve made up your mind. You want to get tape-in hair extensions. Not clip-in hair extensions, not halo hair extensions. You want tape-ins, not anything else.

However, there’s one more question that’s been bugging your mind for a while now: How long do tape in hair extensions last? And until you know the answer, you can’t be 100% sure of your decision.

zala how long do tape-in hair extensions last

How long do tape-in hair extensions last?

The short answer is, six to eight weeks up to nine to ten weeks, depending on which expert you consult.

The long answer is, it really depends on a lot of factors, as well as the quality of the tape-in hair extensions you’re buying.

Factors that affect the lifespan of tape-in hair extensions

  • your daily hair care regimen
  • your personal hair growth
  • the quality of your tape-in hair extensions

Your daily hair care regimen

How long do tape in extensions last depending on your daily hair care? The answer varies depending on what your regimen entails. Tape-in hair extensions are meant to be reused for up to three to four times but stay on your hair majority of the time. This means that if you don’t take care of your own hair, where the tape-ins are attached, then they’re bound to not last long, either.

Your personal hair growth

Using tape-in hair extensions is pretty simple. You ‘tape’ them to your hair using medical grade adhesive and leave them there for a few weeks until your hair grows long enough that they start to get noticeable. When that happens, you have to move them up, and the process is repeated.

So, how many times can you reuse tape in extensions? Typically, you can reuse your tape-in extensions up to three times. But the thing is, the action of removing and replacing them over and over again is damaging for tape-ins. This means that the faster your hair grows, the more frequently you’ll have to move them up, and the more damage they’ll sustain over time. Hence, if your hair grows longer faster, it probably means your tape-ins won’t last as long either. At least, not as long as on someone whose hair doesn’t grow as fast.

But, how long can you keep hair extensions in? Well, you can continue to wear your tape-in wefts for 4-8 weeks until you need to move them up. The exact time to keep the extensions in depends on how fast your hair grows.

The quality of your tape-ins

Anything that’s good quality is most likely to outlive something that’s poorly made. If you choose hair extensions that are non-Remy and cheaply made, then you better not expect them to last as long as Remy human hair extensions. ZALA Hair, for example, uses only the best quality for our ZALA tape-in hair extensions, making sure that each one will last as long as you need them to.

Remy Hair Explained: What’s The Difference?

Here at ZALA, we always say that our products are 100% human Remy hair.

Of course, this is to prove that our hair extensions are of the highest quality, made with care and precision. The kind of quality that you lovelies deserve 100%! But what exactly does ‘Remy’ hair mean?

zala remy hair explained

What Is Remy Hair?

Remy describes the method of hair collection, which is bit different than non-Remy. In Remy hair extensions, the hair strands are all aligned in their original direction. This results in a more natural and realistic look, since this is how real hair is like too.

Remy vs. Non-Remy

The biggest difference between the two is how the hair strands were collected to make the final product. Non-Remy hair is usually collected from brushes and other cut hair, so the strands tend to have different directions. Not to mention, non-Remy extensions or wigs need to go through several chemical processes before they can be sold. The results aren’t as natural, but since they’re easier to mass-produce, they cost way less than Remy.

Benefits Of Using Remy Hair

  • washable
  • very high quality
  • easily blends with your own hair
  • can be styled the way you would do real hair
  • looks and feels like real human hair
  • lasts longer than other types

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is Remy better than non-Remy?
    • In many ways, yes. Non-Remy is much cheaper than Remy, but the results from the latter look way more natural than the former.
  2. Is virgin hair different from Remy hair?
    • Virgin hair means 100% untreated hair, usually from a single person. Remy doesn’t automatically mean untreated, though it doesn’t go through the same chemical processes that non-Remy hair goes through.
  3. Is human hair the same as Remy hair?
    • No. At least, not really. Remy hair is human hair, but not all human hair is Remy hair. Even non-Remy hair can be human hair, you know. It all depends on the method used to collect them.
  4. Is it true that non-Remy is low quality?
    • Not necessarily. There are a lot of factors that have to be considered before labelling different types of hair extensions or wigs as ‘low quality’. What we can say for sure though is this: Remy is 99% of the time better than non-Remy. We’re leaving the 1% for possible exceptions.
  5. Can I use heat-styling tools on this?
    • Remy hair is tough and can withstand heat like normal, natural hair can. But don’t abuse them, just treat them like how you would treat your own hair.
  6. Can I bleach this?
    • Yes, but once again, always exercise some caution. Even your own hair can’t take too many bleach jobs, after all.

Now you know what we mean by saying that our hair extensions are 100% human Remy hair! If you’ve got more questions, you can ask them in the comments below!

New Year’s Resolutions 2019: Hair Edition

It’s less than 24 hours before 2018 ends, and you know what that means: time for our New Year’s Resolutions 2019!

The year has come and gone so fast. Ever experienced closing your eyes and then suddenly waking up, without knowing that you fell asleep in the first place? That’s exactly how 2018 felt like for us.

The new year is coming soon, and we here at ZALA simply can’t wait to welcome it with open arms. To start off the year right, here are 4 new year’s resolutions you can do that your hair will definitely love this 2019!

New Year's Resolutions Hair Edition

New Year’s Resolution #1: Get more hours of sleep

Raise your hand if you’ve ever slept way past your bedtime. Don’t worry, I’m raising my hand with you. I can’t count on one hand how many times I’ve fallen asleep at 1AM, 3AM, and even 5AM when I’m too busy trying to finish something.  I know, I know. We live in a fast-paced world yada yada, but our hair doesn’t understand that, sadly.

For every hour that you don’t sleep when you should be sleeping, you’re moving closer and closer to hair-loss, hair-thinning, and other hair problems. Not to mention, lack of sleep poses a lot of other health concerns too! This 2019, make sure you get more sleep, more than enough to let your body repair and heal itself.

New Year’s Resolution #2: Drink more water

“I need agua!”

Katarina Stratford from the classic 1999 romantic comedy film 10 Things I Hate About You is right: we all need agua. In fact, you may need more water than what you already think is efficient. 87% of the population drinks water, according to a 2015 survey on health and food consumption. The question is, how much are you drinking?

Aim to drink at least 74 ounces of water every day. Men should drink more, at 101 ounces. This ensures that your scalp is well-hydrated and healthy, which promotes hair growth and lessens the risk of dry hair.

New Year’s Resolution #3: Eat more healthy food

I’m a picky eater. I’m one of the pickiest people I know, and for most people who know me, I’m the pickiest person they know too. However, even I understand the importance of eating healthy food (even if I want nothing more than to gorge myself in ice cream and chocolates all day) for the sake of my body and my health.

See, what we put inside our tummies reflects what we look like on the outside. If you eat junk food every day, needless to say, it won’t be long before your outside, including your hair, will look like junk as well. Wanna get long, flowing, gorgeous, healthy hair? Eat healthy food, that’s how. Add it to your list of new year’s resolutions 2019 now!

New Year’s Resolution #4: Practice a daily hair care routine

Our hair is one of the least noticed parts of the body. Many people have no problem establishing dedicated skincare routines, spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars buying expensive products, getting expensive facials and diamond peels, and paying huge amounts of money for services to enhance and improve their skin.

Keeping a daily hair care routine, however, doesn’t seem as normal. Few people take the time out of their day to dedicate to their hair. Sure, they’d get monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly haircuts. Maybe they’ll get a hair spa every 6 months or so. Maybe they’ll go for a treatment to ‘treat’ themselves at times. But rarely do they do things on a daily basis. Well then, maybe it’s time. Love your hair a little bit better, and we promise you, it’s going to love you back tenfolds.

What about you, what are new year’s resolutions 2019? Feel free to share down below!

And of course, see you next year (read: tomorrow?) here at ZALA blog!
