Types of Hair Extensions at ZALA

Hair extensions are increasingly becoming the trending ‘it’ hair. That’s really no surprise–after all, they’re a fun and non-committal way to achieve that major hair makeover.

Types of Hair Extensions at ZALA

In this article, we’ll tell you all about the different types of hair extensions at ZALA and what you can achieve with them!

Clip In Hair Extensions

Clip-In Hair Extensions are the least permanent hair extensions. You can easily clip them in your hair and snap them off to remove.

As the name implies, it has clips attached to the base of wefts sewn to lace or fabric. You simply clip these extensions onto your hair. This means your hair won’t be damaged by chemicals, heat, pressure, or other potentially damaging installation methods.

ZALA’s Clip-in hair extensions are available in multiple lengths from 12 – 30 inches. They also come in more than 25 shades, varying weights, and thickness. With a multi-tone system that helps your hair blend naturally and small, sturdy clips that are light and discreet when applied, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your ZALA’s are premium-quality extensions.

Tape-In Hair Extensions

Tape-In Hair Extensions are exactly what their name says. The extensions are pre-taped and you tape them together on either side of your hair.

Tape-ins allow for easy application and removal, multiple-use, and maximization of placement options so you can achieve a natural look. In fact, you can get a full head of taped hair in under 30 minutes with no heat, glue, or painful wefts.

With the premium quality of 5A European Hair, ZALA’s tape-in hair extensions are available in more than 17 shades and there are five different lengths on hand (12, 16, 20, 22, 26”).

Halo Hair Extensions

Best suited if you have thin to medium hair type or if you have below shoulder-length hair, Halo Hair Extensions act like a headband after you section off your hair at the crown with the front sections of your hair that frame your face left out.

Available in four different lengths, more than 14 shades and transparent bands, ZALA’s halo hair extensions are that perfect once-and-for-all, quick, and invisible way of adding length and volume to your hair.

Quad Weft Clip Extensions

If you want to thicken and extend your hair in one easy step, you can apply Quad Weft Clip-In Hair Extensions.

These extensions have four strips of hair sewn into one thick weft. This contains nearly as much hair as a full set. You just secure the clips onto your head, from ear to ear, and you instantly get a complete hair transformation of longer and thicker hair.

Made of 100% Human Remy Hair, ZALA’s double drawn extra-thick Quad Wefts are available in more than 14 shades and in lengths of either 20 or 24 inches.

Seamless Hair Extensions

Also known as Skin Weft Extensions, Seamless Hair Extensions are applied the same way as clip-in hair extensionss since they also have clips hand sewn to the silicone backing.

These extensions are designed for people who prefer lighter and thinner clip-ins, which make them very good for seamlessly blending.

Whether you buy the volumizer extensions available as 12-, 16- and 20-inch pieces or the nine-piece sets that come in either 16 or 20 inches, ZALA’s seamless hair extensions are super easy to apply and conceal.

One Piece Clip In Volumizer

One Piece Clip In Volumizers are a great way to go from flat, dull hair to flaunt volume, gloss and buoyancy in your hair.

Used for supplemental thickness, it can be worn alone if your hair is the same length as the piece. As it is a single-piece and clip-in lightweight, it is suitable for everyday use because it is easy to apply and comfortable to use.

Available in 12, 16, and 20 inches, you can pick from whether you want a Seamless, Halo, or  Keratin volumizer. With also a wide range of shades to choose from, you can find the perfect ZALA volumizer for you.

Clip In Ponytail Extensions

Types of Hair Extensions at ZALA

Clip-in Ponytail Extensions are used specifically for instantly adding length and volume to your ponytail as well as your updos.

These extensions can transform your second-day hair into ponytail perfection, even if you’re just sitting there on your couch for a virtual party night with your friends or an impromptu video call with your better half.

Available in either 100% human hair or 100% keratin protein, you can get your own wrap-in ponytail extensions here at ZALA and be sure they’re comfortable, secure, and natural-looking. You can also choose from the different lengths offered (12”, 16”, 22”, 26”) and more than 14 different shades to achieve your desired style.

Balayage Clip In Hair Extensions

Balayage Clip-in Hair Extensions ensure natural blending with gorgeous ombre combinations.

ZALA listened to customers who were concerned that bleaching the lower half of their hair to create a balayage look could leave their hair damaged, dry and unhealthy. The free-hand painting highlights of a balayage hair creates a soft, natural light gradation.

Luckily for you, we have over 6 shades available in 20 & 24 inches. Use ZALA ombre clip hair extensions & create this timeless sun-kissed look instantly!

Our Balayage extensions are 100% Human Remy Hair, triple-wefted & double drawn. Available in 5-piece and 9-piece sets and in lengths of 20 and 24 inches, you will certainly find the right set for you.

Weft Bundles

ZALA Weft Bundles

Suitable for sewing straight into hair or for making wigs, ZALA Weft Bundles are triple-wefted, which makes them thicker than other wefts on the market.

Intended for professional application, they come in 33-inch-wide straight hair weaves. With a range of shades to pick from and different lengths available, you will find weft bundles at ZALA that are fit for the style you’re after.

Compared to having your hair undergo dyeing or relaxing treatment for a semi-permanent hair makeover, wearing extensions are far less damaging to your natural hair. Also, they’re easier to wear and require less commitment to one hairstyle. After all, you can undo and redo them time and time again.

As you can see, there’s a variety of types, colors, and lengths to choose from. There’s a 100% chance you’ll find the perfect hair extensions for you at ZALA.

A Guide To Properly Toning Hair Extensions

Toning may not be as taxing to your strands than other harsher procedures like bleaching, but if you’re going to attempt it on your hair extensions, it’s best if you actually know what you’re doing.

In this article, we’ll show you an easy step-by-step guide to properly toning hair extensions, regardless of the type!

zala-guide-properly-toning-hair-extensions

Pre-toning reminders:

  • Use only warm or lukewarm water for rinsing your hair extensions. Hot water can damage the extensions while cold water might be ineffective at rinsing out the dirt and grime.
  • Make sure that the purple shampoo you’re using contains no harmful chemicals, as well as paraben and sulfate, as these can be damaging for hair extensions.
  • Before attempting to do this treatment to all your hair extensions, do a patch test first. If the patch doesn’t come out the way you want it, then either try another purple shampoo or use another set of hair extensions.
  • Doing any kind of treatment on your hair extensions will void the warranty, so make sure that this is really something you want to do before doing it.

Step-by-step toning guide

Toning hair extensions is actually a lot similar to toning your own hair, except you have to exercise more caution since the former can be more fragile than your own strands.

1. Prepare your toning solution

The first thing you need to do is to prepare your toning solution. Don’t worry, it’s easy. All you have to do is to add a couple of drops of purple shampoo to a bowl, or even your own sink, filled with lukewarm water.

2. Add in the hair extensions

Get your hair extensions set and slowly add the pieces one by one into the solution. If you’re using clip-ins, you should be fine dipping the entire thing in. But if you’re using tape-ins, remember to keep the taped part dry, away from the water.

3. Massage the strands

Gently, very gently, massage the strands under the purple water. Make sure to only keep them in the water for not more than 20 seconds. Any more and they could turn purple. Unless you want that, you should probably avoid keeping them in for far too long. This is the secret to properly toning hair extensions.

4. Use hair conditioner

Once you’re done with that step, drain your sink (or empty out your bowl) and replace it with clean, lukewarm water. This time, use a good hair conditioner specifically for hair extensions and leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. We recommend using our own ZALA Smooth Talker Conditioner for best results.

5. Rinse and dry carefully

Finally, rinse out all the conditioner from your extensions. Dry carefully on a flat towel and you’re done! Of course, it’s also best if you come back later when it’s dry and brush through each piece to make sure that they look their best.

Take note, we also have a video on our YouTube channel showing how to tone tape hair extensions. If you have tape hair extensions, you can watch that video right here:

Do Tape-In Hair Extensions Damage Hair?

Are tape in extensions bad for your hair? Like many other hair procedures and accessories, most hair extensions cause your hair some damage to a certain degree.

That said, it doesn’t mean that you have to haphazardly risk your hair every time you want to use hair extensions. Hair extensions have a range of benefits, of course – you just have to know how to minimize the risks.

zala do tape-in hair extensions damage hair width=

Still, you may want to know: do tape in extensions ruin your hair? Or is tape in extensions bad for your hair? Let’s find out.

How tape-in hair extensions work

Tape-in hair extensions work by adding hair strands to your own hair through the use of glue or some sort of adhesive. They’re pretty effective at adding volume to your hair instantly, especially if you opt for a full head of extensions.

The glue usually weakens or even comes off on its own after a few weeks or so, but you’re free to remove and replace tape-in hair extensions any time you wish, though it’s not recommended.

Do tape-in hair extensions damage hair?

So, do tape in extensions damage your hair? To say it simply, yes, it can. That doesn’t mean they will, but the risk is definitely there.

Tape-in hair extensions are easy to use and they’re usually hassle-free to put in your hair, but unfortunately, they only last as long as your natural hair growth. The moment the tapes become noticeable, you’ll have no choice but to move them up, and that means ripping them off (gently, we hope) your hair and replacing them to a higher position.

It takes just a fortnight or so for the average person to get enough hair growth that they’ll need to move the tape-ins up, but even this infrequent moving up can be quite stressful and even traumatic for your strands. That’s why it’s important to never, ever remove your tape-ins unless you absolutely have to, and even then, you have to do it really carefully to avoid damaging your hair.

What damages can tape-ins cause?

  • thinning hair, possible eventual hair loss
  • weakened hair that’s prone to breaking
  • dry, frizzy hair due to stress

When should I use tape-ins?

If you really want to minimize the damages caused by tape-in hair extensions though, there’s one important question that you need to ask yourself: do I really need tape-in hair extensions? Or will my hair be better off with clip-ins / halo hair extensions?

There’s not strict guide on choosing hair extensions, but you do have to keep in mind the following:

When to use tape-in hair extensions

  • You need thicker, longer hair for more than a month
  • You only need a few sets here and there

When not to use tape-in hair extensions

  • You need a volume boost for just a few days
  • You need to cover your whole head with extensions

How long do they usually last?

Tape-in hair extensions, when cared for correctly, can last anywhere from six to ten weeks, but it does depend greatly on a lot of other factors, such as the quality of your extensions, your natural hair growth, your daily haircare regimen, and so on. For a more comprehensive answer on how long they usually last, check out this article.

Now you’ve got your answer for, “Are tape ins bad for your hair?” You know that tape-in hair extensions are safe to use, but you do need some caution when using them. Remember, if you only need a temporary volume boost, you can always check out other kinds of hair extensions such as clip-in hair extensions or perhaps ZALA Halo hair extensions. These two are more expensive than tape-ins but they do a gentler job at giving you the volume you need ASAP.

An Easy Way To Rock Highlights This 2019

Highlights are super fun, both to wear and to look at. But a highlight job at your local salon can cost anywhere from $100 to $400, and doing it yourself isn’t that easy either without making a lot of mess. Not to mention, highlights only last for a couple of weeks max due to your hair’s natural growth.

zala rock highlights this 2019

Want highlights this 2019 but don’t want to deal with the cost and the necessary touch-ups to keep your new ‘do? ZALA is here to the rescue with an easy way to rock highlights this 2019!

1. Prepare your ZALA Tape-in Hair Extensions

Take two different sets of hair extensions. One will serve as the base colour, basically the same colour as your current hair. The other will serve as the colour of your highlights. For best results, use a colour that is only 2-3 shades lighter than your hair. This looks more subtle and a lot more natural.

2. Combine the hair extensions together

zala highlights this 2019

Get a piece each from both sets and put them side by side. Remove the paper from your original hair colour and attach it to the lighter shade. Keep doing this until you’re satisfied with the results.

3. Tape the hair extensions to your hair

Once you’ve finished preparing the hair extensions, it’s finally time to tape them in! Start by adding piece by piece of your original colour to your hair. Once you reach the widest part of your head, it’s time to start attaching the lighter coloured pieces! Make sure to put smaller pieces at the side of your head too.

4. Add some finishing touches

zala highlights this 2019

Afterwards, brush through your hair to ensure that the lighter pieces are evenly distributed. If you want to make the highlights more pronounced, feel free to add in more pieces of the lighter coloured pieces. Once you’re satisfied, you can now add in the rest of the original hair colour to finish the look.
